OPEN INDEX: a survey of independent art publishing

OPEN INDEX is a curatorial platform focused on contemporary practices in independent art publishing in Italy. The initiative pairs a reading room with an immersive sound installation to examine books and editorial formats as spaces for research, relationship and experimentation.

Curated by phonetics and presented in connection with the Turin Book Fair, the project brings together a selection of leading independent publishers and proposes ways of engaging that emphasize listening and critical exchange around editorial practices linked to contemporary art.
