Neive is a compact historical village in the Langhe that retains its medieval layout and a strong bond with viticulture. Perched on a hill among rows of vines and rolling agricultural landscapes, the village is an ideal place to understand the relationship between rural architecture and Nebbiolo-based wine production.
History and landscape: the historic centre features narrow streets, brick houses and traditional roof tiles. Landmarks such as the Clock Tower and the Porta di San Rocco make the medieval structure easy to read.
Vineyards and wine: the surrounding hills are mainly planted with Nebbiolo, which helps produce Barbaresco and shapes the character of the terrain. Walking among the rows of vines reveals the natural morphology of the hills and the continuity of local agricultural practices.
Neive demonstrates how a village can preserve its historical identity while maintaining a living connection with the land, offering visitors a rich mix of landscape, history and flavours.
