Montefiore Conca will once again hold its traditional Good Friday procession on Friday, April 3. The evening features a solemn re-enactment of the Passion, with torchlight, period costumes and pauses for prayer that transform the historic centre into a space of reflection and communal memory.

The procession balances devotion and pageantry, preserving the local ritual's spiritual meaning without excessive theatricality.

Program overview

• 21:15 Gathering and introductory narration at the Monument to the Fallen.
• 21:30 Second introduction in Piazza della Libertà.
• Start of the procession: local brotherhoods, representations of the Madonna, apostles, Pontius Pilate and the Company of the Good Death will march through the streets.
• Pause at San Paolo Parish Church for a moment of solemn reflection.
• Final act at the Chiesina dell’Ospedale, prepared as the Holy Sepulchre, with a closing prayer and distribution of blessed bread.

Who takes part and what to expect

About a hundred local participants wear historical garments to recreate the Passion. Children from the village act as angels, carrying symbols of the Passion. Visitors should expect an atmosphere of reverence and community involvement.
