The Imago Museum: a temple of figurative art in Pescara

Autore: Redazione 27/08/2025 09:31

In the heart of Pescara, just a few steps from the seafront, stands a cultural institution that in recent years has earned a prominent place on the Italian art scene: the Imago Museum. Born from the passion and vision of entrepreneur Walter Di Giacomo, this exhibition space has become a point of reference for lovers of figurative art, hosting prestigious permanent collections and internationally renowned temporary exhibitions.

The Heart of Imago: Figurative Art

The Imago Museum is distinguished by its clear and steadfast focus on figurative art—not as a mere exercise in representation, but as a means of expression, reflection, and exploration of the human condition. The museum embraces a wide range of artists and movements, favoring works that, while maintaining a strong connection to visible reality, go beyond it to explore the inner dimension, dreams, unease, and beauty.

Among the prominent figures represented at Imago are both contemporary masters and historic names of the 20th century. The permanent collection includes works by artists who, despite their differing styles and techniques, share a deep sensitivity for the human figure, landscape, and visual storytelling. Visitors can admire works ranging from raw realism to hyperrealism, and from dreamlike to symbolic expression—all united by remarkable technical mastery and profound conceptual research.

The Exhibition Floors: Piano A and Piano B

The Imago Museum unfolds across two exhibition levels, each with its own identity and function, together creating a rich and stimulating visitor experience:

  • Piano A – Permanent Collections and Major Exhibitions:
The main floor is the beating heart of the Imago Museum. Here, the permanent collections are displayed—an impressive ensemble built over years of careful acquisitions that provide an overview of figurative art from the postwar period to the present day. Among the exhibited works are often world-famous names, icons of contemporary art who have shaped collective taste and imagination. This floor also hosts major temporary exhibitions of national and international significance, dedicated to retrospectives of great masters, in-depth thematic explorations, or collective displays bringing together artists of different generations and backgrounds, always within the realm of high-quality figurative art.
  • Piano B – Special Projects and Emerging Talents:
Located on the lower level, this area serves as a dynamic and versatile space for special projects, solo shows by emerging artists, and thematic exhibitions. It gives voice to new talents in the figurative arts, offering them a platform to present original and experimental work. The space also hosts site-specific installations and interdisciplinary projects, maintaining a consistent focus on the image and representation. It is a place of discovery and dialogue, where visitors can explore unconventional paths and encounter the most innovative trends in contemporary art.
