Claudio Sapienza presents a body of work composed of large and medium-scale paintings, assemblages and installations that incorporate natural materials, notably volcanic ash from Mt. Etna. The exhibition reflects on the relationship between humanity and the Earth, time as geological process, and the traces left by shifting landscapes.
Surfaces on jute, wood and aluminium host pigments and mineral particles that reveal a dialogue between memory and presence. Recurrent motifs such as butterflies coexist with marks evoking ancient terrestrial processes, offering both intimate and collective readings.
