Until 12 April 2026, the MA*GA Museum in Gallarate (Varese) hosts the exhibition "Kandinsky and Italy", an investigation of the Russian master's work and its relationship with the emergence of abstract art in Europe and Italy between the 1930s and 1950s.
Edited by Elisabetta Barisoni and Emma Zanella, the show brings together 130 works, including about 20 by Wassily Kandinsky, drawn from public institutions and private collections such as Ca' Pesaro and the MA*GA. The exhibition traces the origins and development of non-figurative language, highlighting Kandinsky's spiritual and formal contribution to modern art.
The project is organized by MA*GA in collaboration with the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia and benefits from institutional support intended to promote cultural heritage within the national cultural programme.
Practical information: the exhibition takes place at MA*GA, Gallarate (Varese). For opening times, ticket prices and guided tours please consult the museum's official channels. The show runs until 12 April 2026.
This exhibition is a recommended visit for anyone interested in Kandinsky's role in shaping modern abstraction and in the dialogue between European and Italian artistic practices of the 20th century.
