The Blue Walrus: one year of inclusion for families and children

Autore: Redazione 03/04/2026 03:20

One year of practical inclusion initiatives

The Il Tricheco Blu Foundation has wrapped up its inaugural year with a family-focused model aimed at turning awareness about neurodiversity into hands-on opportunities. Projects span schools, sports activities and a community space designed to build everyday autonomy for children.

Key figures from the first year

  • 300 students reached through awareness and educational activities;
  • 50 young people with autism participating in inclusive programs;
  • 5 schools engaged in the pilot initiatives;
  • 25 children included in the summer inclusive camps (AcquaCamp).

Schools as laboratories for change

The school program offers teachers, staff and pupils practical tools to manage diversity in the classroom. Offerings include hands-on training, adapted communication methods and teaching strategies aimed at making inclusion part of daily school life.

Sport and leisure: the AcquaCamp approach

AcquaCamp brings together neurotypical children and children with autism in a supported summer setting. Educational support is personalized (ratios 1:1 or 1:2) and funded by the foundation, ensuring families can participate under equal financial conditions.

The Cascina community hub in Monza

Set to open in the autumn, the Cascina will be a multifunctional space offering workshops, autonomy-building paths and family activities. It aims to be a practical environment where young people develop life skills with specialist support.

Funding and long-term planning

The first-year activities were made possible through private funding and backing from an international philanthropic foundation that provides multi-year support. This planning reduces the risk of interruption and promotes a replicable model on a wider scale.

Practical info for families

  • Programs are designed to be accessible and affordable for families;
  • To join workshops, camps or school initiatives, check the foundation's announcements and partner school communications for schedules and registration details;
  • Families can request information on tailored support options available within the programs.

Why consider participating: these initiatives aim to turn coexistence with neurodiversity into a community strength, promoting autonomy, inclusion and well-being for the children involved.
