"The World Is One" in Trapani: opening and concept

On Friday 17 April 2026 at 19:00 the exhibition The World Is One opens at the Oratorio San Rocco – Contemporary Art Museum in Trapani. Curated by Francesco Piazza with scientific consultancy by Amanda Skamagka (University of Athens), the project draws its title from the second book of Yannis Ritsos’s Italian Triptych.

Curatorial approach

The exhibition departs from Ritsos’s poems (written between 1976 and 1980) and invites artists to traverse the texts rather than illustrate them. Each contribution stems from biographical, symbolic or emotional resonances, producing works that connect word and image to address themes such as memory, landscape, collective disorientation and environmental erosion.
