The unified conference titled "Grotta Paglicci – A World Heritage" marks the first public step in a new phase of enhancement for this Paleolithic site. The initiative aims to back Paglicci Cave's UNESCO nomination, promote the reopening of the Gargano Paleolithic Museum and boost visits and scientific activities.

Why Paglicci Cave matters

Paglicci Cave is an exceptional prehistoric archive: excavations have yielded over 45,000 finds spanning roughly 500,000 to 11,000 years ago. Discoveries include rock paintings and engravings, human remains (notably the so-called "Woman of Paglicci") and numerous stone and bone tools, all crucial for understanding Paleolithic cultural evolution.
