The museums of Arco and St. Moritz present a comprehensive retrospective dedicated to Giovanni Segantini. The exhibition brings together the permanent Arco collection, loans from the Segantini Museum in St. Moritz and works from private collections, tracing Segantini's artistic development from his early years to his Swiss period.

Exhibition highlights

• Works from the early 1880s, including important pieces from the Navigli series.
• The Portrait of a Woman in Via San Marco, chosen as the exhibition's representative image.
• About a dozen works from the Briantean period, with a focus on drawings.
• A full room devoted to the Swiss period, featuring for the first time in Arco Ramo di cembro and La propaganda from St. Moritz.
• A group of engravings by Segantini's sons, Gottardo and Mario, acquired by the municipal administration in 2024–2025 and displayed complete for the first time.
• The notable painting Sole d'autunno is included among the exhibited works.

Visitor information

Opening hours: Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–18:00. Special opening on Monday 6 April (Easter Monday).

Due to the electoral period the exhibition opens without an official inauguration; a public presentation of the yearly program is planned after Easter. This Arco showing is the first phase of a project that will later move the Arco collection to St. Moritz, where it will remain through the end of 2026; the collection is expected to return to Arco in 2027.

The retrospective offers a clear overview of Segantini's stylistic evolution and is a significant opportunity to see one of Italy's important Segantini collections alongside international loans.
