FAI Spring Days: overview

On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March 2026 the 34th edition of the FAI Spring Days takes place. This national event promotes knowledge and protection of cultural and landscape heritage. In Calabria several historic palaces, nature reserves, villas and corporate museums will be open for visits—often offering access to places normally closed to the public.

Open sites in Calabria: highlights

• Mongrassano — GIAS: interactive museum within the Museimpresa network; registered FAI members can join a special visit to the agro-food production chain.
• Montalto Uffugo — Molino Bruno: historic industrial mill with a route showing wheat processing and demonstrations of flour and bakery product preparation.
• Sant’Andrea Apostolo dello Ionio — Palazzo della Baronessa Scoppa: historic palace with period salons, family portraits and a sea-facing loggia.
• Marina — Regional Nature Reserve: protected coastal area with dunes and native vegetation, recognized as a cherished local site.
• Sant’Ilario dello Ionio — historic centre and Casino Speziali: a trail through noble houses and a peasant museum; the Casino Speziali opens exclusively to FAI members.
• Spezzano della Sila — I Giganti della Sila and Casino Mollo: ancient woodland and a hunting lodge undergoing restoration; included in a European itinerary thanks to received funds.
• Strongoli — historic itinerary: from the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul to the Castle, churches and noble palaces, tracing the town’s layered history.
• Vibo Valentia — Palazzo Di Francia and historic centre: exceptional opening of a noble family residence with garden and art collection; a public walking tour showcases the main palaces.

Practical visitor information

Visits are generally offered with a voluntary contribution. Some tours are reserved for FAI members, while others are open to all according to published schedules. The initiative is supported by volunteers and by young "Apprendisti Ciceroni" who guide visitors and provide historical context.
