World Bee Day 2026 in Rome: exhibitions, workshops and nature walks

Rome organises a programme of events focused on bees and pollinators: educational exhibitions, artistic installations, roundtables and hands-on activities designed for families, students and professionals. The aim is to increase awareness of bees' role in food production and ecosystem health in urban and rural areas.

What to see and do

  • Botanical Garden: exhibition and art installation showcasing the links between bees, food production and climate change, with educational paths for all ages.
  • FAO events (18-21 May): international meetings and thematic workshops on sustainable beekeeping and pollinator protection.
  • Luiss University: a roundtable with researchers, institutions and agricultural stakeholders on biodiversity policies and conservation strategies.
  • Civic Museum of Zoology: hands-on labs for children and families to explore the world of pollinating insects.
  • Botanical walk in the Martignanello Reserve: guided excursion to identify habitats favourable to bees and understand plant–pollinator relationships.
  • Garden of the Five Senses (20 May): practical activities, information panels and entomology boxes for children in the Monti Lucretili Regional Natural Park.
  • WWF Oases Spring programme: guided visits and workshops in over a hundred protected areas focused on pollinators.

Why attend

Bees are essential pollinators for many crops and wild plants. Habitat loss, widespread pesticide use and climate change threaten numerous species. Attending events offers practical guidance on protecting pollinators and supports local beekeeping initiatives.
