On March 6 the Rosselli Foundation in Florence will hold a public event to mark International Women's Day, focusing on women's roles in the anti-fascist struggle and the founding of the Italian Republic.
The programme includes a musical introduction by Letizia Fuochi followed by the presentation of Luca Gatti's book Una donna nella lotta antifascista. Giaele Angeloni dall'esilio in Francia alla guerra di Spagna (Arcadia).
Speakers will also present memories and reflections on two Tuscan members of the Constituent Assembly, Teresa Mattei and Bianca Bianchi, with contributions by Silvia Panichi and Bruno Becchi.
Valdo Spini, president of the Foundation, highlights the relevance of recalling women's contributions to key moments in Italy's republican history, especially as the country marks the 80th anniversary of the 1946 referendum and Constituent Assembly.
The event offers a chance to explore personal histories of civic engagement and to consider women's influence on politics and collective memory.
