Fondazione Alinari: two new centers for the photographic archive

To mark its first five years, Fondazione Alinari has announced the establishment of two new centers located between Florence and Montecatini. The facilities will be devoted to preservation, restoration and the public presentation of the foundation's significant photographic archive.

The initiative aims to strengthen the role of the photographic collections within Tuscany's cultural landscape by providing technical infrastructure and exhibition spaces designed for both the safeguarding of materials and their accessibility to the public and researchers.

  • Preservation: controlled environments and systems for long-term archive management.
  • Restoration: equipped conservation labs for negatives, prints and historical materials.
  • Exhibitions: venues for temporary shows and thematic routes on photographic history.
  • Research services: supervised archive access and documentary research support.
  • Educational activities: programs for schools and the general public to promote historical photography.

For the local area, the dual locations represent an opportunity for cultural and touristic development: they encourage collaboration with local institutions, enhance the museum offer and create new engagement opportunities for residents and visitors.

Detailed information on opening hours, public access, exhibitions and guided visits will be provided by the Foundation. Check Fondazione Alinari's official channels for updates and exhibition schedules.
