The Borghi Rurali della Laga Cultural Festival is back: a distributed event program that highlights small mountain communities across Marche, Abruzzo and Lazio. The festival blends culture, landscape and local engagement to support post-earthquake recovery and promote both tangible and intangible heritage.
Organized by a network of local communities and associations, the festival presents an extensive, itinerant calendar: 52 main events plus numerous linked activities. Town squares, trails and restored rural spaces become stages for storytelling, traditional crafts and community gatherings.
The 2026 edition focuses on social reconstruction and heritage protection: an invitation to look beyond the earthquake’s damage by enhancing relationships, skills and local experiences. Many activities are conceived and run by residents, including historical reenactments, experiential routes, talks and performances that depict local identity and daily life.
The festival is based on cooperation among municipalities, local partners and community networks, offering a participatory model aimed at restoring vitality to villages and creating lasting cultural and social opportunities. Taking part supports regeneration projects that combine tradition and innovation in the heart of the central Apennines.
