Inclusive morning at the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum

On 14 May 2026 the Archaeological Park of Herculaneum hosted a morning focused on cultural accessibility, dedicated to ten attendees from the local Multifunctional Center for People with Disabilities. The initiative was part of the Maggio dei Libri 2026 programme and was carried out in partnership with the G. Buonajuto Civic Library and the Boetheia Onlus Cooperative.

Visit format

Accompanied by center staff and library operators, participants walked the site's decumani and explored houses, workshops and the Ancient Beach area. Group readings and guided observation activities were organised to encourage participation and autonomy.

Aims and social impact

  • Improve site accessibility for people with disabilities and promote cultural inclusion.
  • Encourage reading and interest in heritage among young people, aligning with the Municipality of Ercolano's reading pact.
  • Foster collaboration between cultural institutions and local social services.
