Erasmus+: Mediterranean exchange focuses on Alghero’s food and cultural heritage

From 25 to 27 March 2026, IIS A. Roth – Piazza Sulis in Alghero will host students and teachers from the Lycée Pierre et Marie Curie in Menton. The initiative, part of the Erasmus+ programme, uses local food and wine heritage as a means to explore the territory and promote cultural exchange.

The project, promoted by teachers Paola Cadeddu (Roth–Piazza Sulis) and Francine Cappelletti (Menton), involves first-year hospitality students and includes practical workshops and lessons held also in English to encourage peer interaction and language practice.

• Cooking workshops led by the institute’s culinary staff to share techniques and regional recipes;
• Guided tours of Alghero’s historic centre, organized by the students;
• Visits to local agri-food realities, including Sella & Mosca and the agritourism Sa Mandra;
• Sessions on the impact of food on territories, society and cultural intersections.

The initiative counts on the support of headmaster Angelo Parodi and the culinary teachers, notably Antonio Deruda and Anna Ricciardi, who contribute professional expertise to showcase local traditions.

This experience is a practical opportunity to strengthen ties between the school and the territory, fostering mutual understanding between young people from the French Riviera and Sardinia and highlighting gastronomy’s role in cultural identity and local development.
