From 1 to 8 April 2026, Palazzo Ducale in Sassari hosts the solo exhibition "Chronotypes" by Sardinian painter Domenico Dore. Curated by Antonio Ottavio Cattari and Luca Poddighe, the show investigates the interplay of time, space and memory through still life painting.
"Chronotypes" offers a pictorial reflection on time as both sequence and layered experience. Dore's still lifes evoke suspended atmospheres—soft tones and precise perspective choices create a sensation of pause and temporal drift. The works translate transitional emotions—desire, fragility, expectation—into compositions that map the inner seasons of life.
The title draws on the concept of the chronotope as a meeting point of space and time, here reinterpreted as multiple "chronotypes": diverse ways of inhabiting time and perceiving reality. The still life genre, historically linked to Vanitas and Memento mori themes, becomes the tool to explore the relationship between being and time.
The opening takes place on 1 April at 17:30 and features a musical contribution by harpist Beatrice Melis. Local partners will collaborate to create a multisensory approach to the works on display.
The exhibition is curated by Antonio Ottavio Cattari and Luca Poddighe. Born in Sassari in 1954, Domenico Dore has exhibited widely in Italy and abroad; his painting practice uses still life as a field for symbolic and perspectival exploration.
