Cittadella degli Archivi, Milan: free exhibitions and a green upgrade

For Milano Art Week 2026 the Cittadella degli Archivi of the Municipality of Milan offers an open, free program combining an artwork donation, two temporary exhibitions and a landscaping intervention in the archive's inner garden.

Artwork donation

Artist Alberto Piña Hernandez (known as Albert Pinya) donates Riscoprire Munari to the Municipality. The work will join the permanent collection and be placed in the garden, engaging with Bruno Munari's legacy and the archive's holdings while contributing to the revitalization of the Niguarda district.

Exhibitions

  • Something new: lights, lines, shapes – solo show by Sergio Limonta (in collaboration with Building gallery). Period: 15 April – 14 June 2026. Eight new works spanning recent series such as "Woods", "Metals" and "PVC", including a large precarious sculpture and a piece made from the archive's reclaimed materials.
  • Letters from the hurricane – project by Alfredo Rapetti Mogol (organized by Isorropia Homegallery and Galleria Ferrero Arte Contemporanea). Period: 15 April – 15 May 2026. Works where writing becomes a painterly gesture, featuring installations like "Three Butterflies" and a sequence referencing Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Garden project: "Le rose purpuree di Cittadella"

The archive garden will be planted with 1,100 red groundcover roses, a grove of 12 tall maple trees and over 500 shrubs (including loropetalums, dogwoods and viburnums), as part of the site's broader regeneration.
