Susa's Adelaide Castle launches the 2026 cultural season with an exhibition tracing the Savoy dynasty's role in both local and European history. Open to the public from 3 April to 24 May 2026, the show brings to Italy for the first time artifacts from the international Savoie.live collection, integrated with the Museo Civico's permanent holdings.
The exhibition narrative begins in the 11th century — marking the union of Countess Adelaide and Oddone of Savoy — and follows the dynasty's political, cultural and military impact through original documents and objects.
Curated by Stefano Paschero and Claude Duffour, the display features over forty original items: 17th-century maps, medieval bronze seals, rare illuminated manuscripts, sabers, portraits and musical scores. The layout highlights connections between the town's history and major European events, emphasizing the strategic importance of alpine fortifications.
The project is promoted by the Municipality of Susa and realised in collaboration with Pro Susa, Revejo and French partners; it is also part of the Torneo Storico dei Borghi programme. The exhibition offers a clear and accessible narrative to explore the Savoys' legacy within the unique setting of the castle.
