Relics of Saint Francis of Assisi in Castelbuono: schedule and practical details

On Sunday, 31 May 2026 Castelbuono will welcome the Sacred Relic of Saint Francis of Assisi, brought from the Papal Basilica of Assisi. The arrival will be the spiritual centerpiece of the XVIII Infiorata and part of the commemorations for the eighth centenary of the Saint’s death.

The programme includes an inaugural blessing, a solemn procession and a Mass presided over by the Bishop of the Diocese of Cefalù, Mons. Giuseppe Marciante. After the celebration, the relic will be transferred to the Monastery’s Church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, where it will remain on display until 3 June 2026 for public veneration.
