Capital of Culture: Region renews support for Forlì and Cesena projects

The Emilia‑Romagna Region has confirmed its willingness to accompany and support the cultural projects stemming from the joint Forlì and Cesena bid for the title of Italian Capital of Culture 2028. The statement followed a regional assembly question from Democratic Party councillors.

Councillors Valentina Ancarani, Daniele Valbonesi and Francesca Lucchi called for the contents of the dossier "I sentieri della bellezza" to be preserved and translated into concrete, shared projects. In response, Undersecretary to the Presidency Manuela Rontini reiterated that the Region stands "alongside the mayors" and is ready to join the promoters' committee to support implementation.

• The dossier is regarded as a strategic plan for cultural, economic and identity-led development in Romagna.
• Goals include strengthening local networks, institutional cooperation and sustainable cultural-led opportunities.

Although the joint candidacy did not win the 2028 title (awarded to Ancona), local leaders stress that the initiative created durable projects, relationships and a shared vision that can be leveraged for future cultural development in the area.
