Bovino, a village in the Daunian Apennines (province of Foggia), is implementing a relaunch plan centered on responsible tourism and the promotion of local resources. The strategy emphasizes community participation and concrete measures to turn visitor flows into economic and social opportunities.

Main objectives

• Enhance the territory by improving the tourism offer with authentic routes, viewpoints and sustainable enjoyment of the historic centre.
• Promote local products through quality recognition initiatives and food-and-wine promotion.
• Encourage co-design between residents, businesses and institutions to create shared, long-term strategies.
• Generate job opportunities, for example by testing community cooperative models linked to sustainable tourism.

Artist residencies and community engagement

Residency programs have already brought artists to the village, with community theatre and dispersed installations that have renewed how residents and visitors interact with the historic centre and landscape.

Environmental safety and maintenance

While the area offers notable natural assets, it faces challenges such as hydrogeological risk and wildfires. Local associations and civil protection groups carry out prevention and maintenance work on trails and infrastructure to keep them accessible and safe.

Festival of Sustainability — 16 and 17 May 2026

To present the project and local proposals, the municipality will host a Festival of Sustainability on the weekend of 16 and 17 May 2026. Activities include guided hikes, visits to educational farms and tastings of typical products — a direct way to discover Bovino and its potential.
