Arcangelo — A Return to a Time

Period: 26/03/2026 – 17/07/2026

Venue: Al Blu di Prussia, Via Gaetano Filangieri 42, Naples, Italy

The Al Blu di Prussia gallery presents a solo show by Arcangelo, curated by Maria Savarese. The exhibition is organized around three distinct cycles: large-scale canvases inspired by Pompei (1993), a set of smaller paintings depicting Madonne Addolorate (2022), and the newly created Magnolie (2025), shown for the first time.

Why visit

This exhibition highlights how Arcangelo’s practice is deeply connected to place and collective memory, drawing on archaeological themes, popular religiosity and urban landscapes typical of Naples and the Campania region. The works combine painting and narrative to convey a unique and coherent artistic voice.

Exhibition layout

  • Pompei (1993): four large paintings that reinterpret archaeological atmospheres and dramatic views.
  • Madonne Addolorate (2022): a series of smaller canvases focused on religious iconography with strong popular sentiment.
  • Magnolie (2025): recent works presented here for the first time, showing the artist’s ongoing evolution.

Artist note

Born in 1956 in Avellino, Arcangelo trained in Italian academies and has lived in Milan since the 1980s, where he teaches painting. His work interweaves memory, landscape and religious imagery, producing a visual language notable for poetic intensity and formal freedom. This exhibition foregrounds the Campania context as a key element of his imagery.

Recommended for those interested in contemporary Italian art that engages with history, territory and devotional tradition.
